We all have that go-to spot for our daily caffeine boost, and there’s no better time to search for some new favourites. Coffee shops are so much more than just coffee, we also love them for their food and decor.

This tiny community cafe on the intersection of 13th Ave and 6th St doubles as a shop for eclectic daily goods. Known for its friendly staff, the cafe serves thoughtfully brewed drinks with a Japanese twist. They also sell a variety of Japanese Pans every other Saturday, so be sure to stop by to grab a strong matcha latte and some delicious baked goods!

We’re sure our readers are familiar with this Instagram favourite. Its extensive menu spans from brunch to dinner, meaning you can stop by and enjoy the Insta-worthy decor whether you’re craving a hearty fried chicken platter or a refreshing Bingsoo.

If you’re looking for a mid-shopping refreshment at The Amazing Brentwood, look no further. Stop by Soon Coffee in the food court for sustainably sourced coffee and drinks. From its smooth and approachable blends to its wallet-friendly prices, Soon Coffee is determined to be a crowd-pleaser. You can even order online to skip the queue!

This hidden gem near the Metrotown Skytrain station offers a fusion of East and West. Best known for its roll cakes, this cafe also sells a variety of food and drinks with a creative twist. Caffé Divano has three locations in Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Burnaby. Highly recommended by Beacon readers, this cafe sells coffee roasted exclusively by local Pallet Coffee Roasters. Not only does it sell quality coffee and tea, its sandwiches made with bread from Gabi and Jules are also worth checking out.

Also highly recommended by Beacon readers, this coffee shop/tea house is the perfect spot for an afternoon catch-up. It offers a wide variety of tea and coffee, and a delicious selection of cake and pastries. The cold drinks on its menu such as watermelon juice and honey lemonade with crystal jelly are perfect for a hot summer day.

From artisanal baked goods to house-made gelato to specialty coffee, FDL Cafe has it all. Plus, its sandwiches are chock full of flavourful ingredients. Although it only just opened last year, the cafe’s delicious baked goods quickly made it a neighbourhood favourite. Be sure to stop by earlier if you want to try them!

This espresso bar is tucked away in the heart of North Road’s unofficial Koreatown. Its selection of handcrafted coffee is very popular with customers and the seasonal specialty drinks are not to be missed.

Special mention: Connected Minds Custom Roasters: This cafe is in Coquitlam but it’s located SO close to Burnaby (right on the border) we just had to add it to the list. Connect Minds offers 7 types of single-origin coffees, as well as seasonal drinks that are bound to pique your interest.
